What is Autism Services?
The Autism Services program is designed to work in collaboration with the family to help each individual with autism live a self-sufficient and independent life.

Some of the goals of the program are to help each individual:
- Develop successful social and behavioral management skills
- Improve and refine communication skills in home and community settings
- Achieve a sense of security and safety in a variety of settings
What are some services that the Autism Services program provides?
- Intensive Individual Support Services
- Family Training
- Respite Care
What is the history of the Autism Services program?
Abilities Network Autism Services is made possible by House Bill 99 that was passed in 1998. This bill required the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) to apply for a Medicaid waiver for children with autism between the ages of 1-21. The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) administers the waiver under DHMH.
