About The Autism Waiver

Autism Services, a division of Abilities Network, is made possible by House Bill 99 that was passed in 1998. This bill required the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) to apply for a Medicaid waiver for children with autism up to age 21.  The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) administers the waiver under DHMH.

How do I register my child for the Autism Waiver?

Individuals and families must meet eligibility criteria and be approved by MSDE/DHMH. For additional information regarding eligibility for the Autism Waiver, contact the Autism Waiver Registry at 1-866-417-3480 or MSDE at 410-767-1446.
