What is Healthy Families?
Accredited by Healthy Families America, a national initiative serving more than 400 communities across the United States, Healthy Families Baltimore County offers in-home support to expectant families and new parents. Services are designed to assist families with developing supportive, enriching parenting practices that will help children grow to realize their fullest potential.

What is the goal of the Healthy Families program?
The goal of Healthy Families Baltimore County is to help parents create supportive environments for their babies and families. The program helps to ensure that:
- Babies are born healthy – Parents who participate in home visits learn how to improve their chances of giving birth to a healthy baby.
- Children grow up healthy- Families who choose to enroll in services gain access to information on recommended immunization schedules, child safety practices and child development and behavior.
- Children enter school ready to learn- The program supports parents in teaching their children skills that will help them be successful in school.
Families live in safe and stable homes and communities- We support families to identify and obtain goals that can lead to better housing, education and employment opportunities. Parents have the opportunity to learn positive parenting techniques that can be helpful when parenting becomes challenging.
How is Healthy Families Baltimore County funded?
Healthy Families Baltimore County is primarily funded through grants from Baltimore County’s Local Management Board. This funding is supplemented by private grants.
